Email Server Configuration
What is an Email Server?
Email Servers handle the job of sending internet mail from one location to another. When you send an email to joe@company.com with an email client (such as Outlook, Eudora, or Hotmail) behind the scenes your client is talking to an email server. This email server looks up the location of the email server for company.com and forwards your email to joe@company.com's mail box.
Do I Need my Own Email Server?
Depending on the size and type of business you run it may make more sense to have your ISP or a third party handle your email on a monthly subscription basis. If you have decided to take the plunge to handle your email yourself we recommend you have an off-site server act as your mail backup so that in the event your server is temporarily down due to maintenance and unforeseen circumstances, when your email system is back online you can receive any missed email.
